Our Story
Est. 1880s

Off to a golden start

Our story begins more than 140 years ago, when Gorg Heller provided local gold miners with quality meats from his shop in Arrowtown, New Zealand.

1985

A new era

A century later Todd Heller celebrates the opening of his Christchurch Butchery, continuing the long held family tradition of delivering the finest cuts, to a growing number of meat loving Kiwis.

1993 – 2004

Scaling up big time

Moving into their Kaiapoi factory in 93’, Hellers greatly increases their productivity. They’re fast becoming a household name, supplying delicious taste-defining products to supermarkets, cafes and restaurants throughout New Zealand. This is the foundation for bigger things to come.

2005 – 2011

Leading the industry

With a $20m upgrade in Christchurch and new facilities in Auckland, Hellers is now one of the country’s most advanced value-added meat manufacturers.

2018

Onwards, upwards and across the ditch

In a bold move Hellers acquires leading Australian manufacturers of chilled, ready-to-eat poultry products Moira Mac’s. It’s the first step into a vastly bigger market, confidently backed by investment from Hellers new major shareholders, Adamantem Capital.

2020

Trans-Tasman success

Expansion continues with the purchase of yet another well known Australian manufacturer of poultry meats – Canon Foods. The acquisition comes with a new world class factory.

2021

A winning combo

Through the expansion of their facilities in Perth, Hellers brings Canon Foods and Moira Mac’s together under the same roof. It’s a move that maximises production and the capability for even greater things to come in Australia.

2022 and beyond

Whatever the future holds, Hellers will continue to go from strength to strength, helping people celebrate life’s moments with great food.
